20 โ | Huge fan of Final Fantasy & Disney Pixar's Cars ๐โก๏ธ | I love watching Motorsports ๐ | ็ก่จใใฉใญใผOKใงใ (Silent following is OK)
I recently had the pleasure of meeting @tylerhoechlin (Sephirothโs ENG VA - FF7: Remake, Rebirth, and CCFF7R) at #Galaxycon !
He was incredibly kind and effortlessly cool to talk to ๐
Thank you! I look forward to more of your performance in Part 3 of the VII trilogy!
@autista2OO9 As for the hat itself, we don't know how much Pixar was involved in its design, but it's not unreasonable to think it was produced with potentials some level of approval.
I know the Piston Cup Wiki is entirely fanon, but I still feel it's worth pointing out the seasons Lightning has won.
There was official merch sold at the Disney parks around the release of Cars 3 that listed all of McQueen's Piston Cup victories.
2008 is one of them ๐
@autista2OO9 TLDR: The game having more Pixar involvement makes it a strong source of interpretation, but not an automatic source of canon. That's why I think both the game & the hat can be considered supporting material when discussing parts of the universe that the films don't fully define.
@GachaRacing18 They didn't have much direct involvement with the development. Only providing assets and ensuring they're being used in a faithful manner.
I've also went on a little ramble about the franchise's external medias and their canonical status ๐:

@Chuyyy1201 You're right to question the canon of the Cars video games.
Since Pixar has never established a detailed canon hierarchy for Cars the way other franchises have (like Star Wars for an example), it's pretty much debatable as to whether or not it is canon. โฌ๏ธ
@GachaRacing18 You have every right to believe that. ๐
Personally, I see the story of the 2006 game as a licensed adaption made primarily for gameplay with Pixar supervising the โlook and feelโ of the game from a creative distance. โฌ๏ธ
@Chuyyy1201 At the end of the day, it largely comes down to what you feel fits within the world of Cars and whether it conflicts with the events of the films.
@Chuyyy1201 The same can be said for most of the comics and novels, as they fall into a similar situation. Most fans consider them "loose canon," which I think is a fair way to categorize the franchise's expanded content. โฌ๏ธ
You know what's better than both of those Crocs?
Mater Crocs ๐
(Granted, I still want a pair of the Lightning McQueen Crocs. I need Crocs to re-release them again ASAP ๐ญ๐)
In 1986, the Benetton F1 Team fitted their B186 cars with BMW engines. This would make the Benetton B196 one of the most powerful cars in F1 history, producing 1350+ BHP in qualifying trim.
