These wins include clinic days & flexible hours reserved for adolescents to access sexual reproductive health services, empowerment of health facilities and adolescents volunteering at facilities to make their peers more comfortable to access the services, to mention but a few.
This week the Community Score Card Consulting Group is supporting the SHE SOARS project partners @CAREinKenya , @HOPEworldwideKenya, @CREAWKenya, @ADSKenya1 and Centre for Rights Education & Awareness (CSA) in Kenya through a refresher training.
SHE SOARS (Sexual & reproductive Health & Economic empowerment Supporting Out of School Adolescent girls’ Rights and Skills) project adopted the CSC as one of its social accountability tools in 2022 and the team has experienced wins both tangible and intangible.

With this background, we would like to call for any individuals, organizations, non-governmental organizations and ministries to assist with supporting our youth to mobilize resources and/or install boreholes for their community development.
This youth-led CSC listed drilling of boreholes as one of the actions on their action plan as community members walked long distances to access clean water. During action plan monitoring, the community reported stalling of the plan & requested well-wishers to step in and help.
At the interface meeting, Ntcheu DHO (reps) addressed myths and misconceptions surrounding vaccines. The community and health center suggested that village headmen coordinate with community volunteers to build a Cholera treatment unit and make sure that everyone has a latrine.
Chigodi youth have been implementing the Community Score Card since 2019. Over the years, they have achieved notable wins including installation of water tanks at their facility, improvement of relationships with facility health workers & introduction of under-5 clinic services.

Sianga is an accomplished Global Health Specialist with extensive experience in sexual and reproductive health. Sianga views the CSC as one of the most effective approaches that creates an enabling environment for adolescents to enjoy their sexual and reproductive health rights.
It was noted that CARE CSC closely aligns with the Kenyan government CSC. This is great as it shows that the government understands the importance of social accountability & community voice, leading to sustainability of the approach & great will in resolving community challenges.

The team was trained over a year ago. So far the project implementing partners have implemented the approach in Nairobi, Kisumu and Westlands. Some key achievements include fixing of road networks to health facilities and installation of water tanks at the facilities.

At the interface meeting in Madi-okollo, the representative speaker for the district council praised the CSC for giving them an understanding of adolescent challenges through strategically facilitated engagement of pressing issues which has allowed them to make informed decisions
Community Score Card Consulting Group is excited to see the fruits of CSC months after providing technical assistance to SHE SOARS (Sexual & reproductive Health & Economic empowerment Supporting Out of school Adolescent girls' Rights & Skills) project in Uganda.
Additionally, another challenge in one of the implementation sites - a refugee camp, was difficulties in accessing health services as the locals speak 7 different languages. Following CSC implementation the facility recruited 7 translators for better engagement & response.
