This week I am sadly winding down my work with @BritishQuakers if any of you would like to continue to follow me my personal account is @lumpinthethroat
Sad to let you all know that I will be leaving @BritishQuakers at the end of the month, for newer opportunities. I've loved my time with Quakers, and got to work on so much important stuff, but all good things must come to an end and the time is right for me to move on.
We're sad to see the abuse directed at some #WhitePoppy wearers on Twitter, much of it accompanied by sexist, homophobic and far-right attitudes. We're glad that thousands of people support #WhitePoppies and that many who disagree will choose constructive discussion over abuse.
@rachelhamada You could try @swarthmoorhall or @WoodbrookeUK both Quaker centers with accomodation for groups, at Woodbrooke you can sleep in the same room as Ghandi did!
Free article: Quakers in Scotland have welcomed the news that Scotland has become the first country in the UK to make it a criminal offence for parents to smack their children #Quaker#smackingban@ScotParl@ScotPolQuaker https://t.co/32evDj45fS
@AndyBowdler56 Banning all forms of discipline would be an unworkable bill. People need to do this work within the realms of reality and possibility. Not all forms of discipline are harmful, and it has been proved physical punishment is harmful not just to children but also to parents.
It's a shame the debate focuses solely on the rights of parents, when the law is about the rights of children and young people. Rights do sometimes rub up against each other, but generally you look to privilege the party whom is most vulnerable i.e. kids. #SPEqualProtection
There is a super awesome Activisim co-ordinator job with @BritishQuakers and if I didn't already work for them I would be going for it! https://t.co/uamc6IfwtP
I'm still feeling really over-the-moon about yesterdays result in parliament on #EqualProtection I keep thinking about the impact this has for children's rights and their understanding of what is and is not acceptable behaviour.
Hats off to the @scotgp & of course @JohnFinnieHI for having the courage to bring forward this legislation & steer it through to completion. We, & more importantly children in Scotland will be forever grateful for your passion and dedication 💪

Many, many congratulations to @JohnFinnieHI on the passing of the Equal Protection from Assault Bill. What a wonderful piece of work to achieve before you retire.
