@jinxtea29@RodKahx@Sasky21@Scribulatora Considering the crass self-importance of some of the people who disagreed with her, I sadly can’t blame him. Hopefully he sees discussions like this one and knows that there are a lot of us who share his loss.
@JulieSLalonde Why does the material look translucent? It’s all painfully thin to begin with, but what else do they have planned? Broadcasts overlayed with porn music?
@allardkalff@wbuxtonofficial Exactly. And very likely( but I haven’t seen all of the footage) there would have been a debris flag as well, so it would be more significant than a car stopped on track, on the line.
@MAYOR_GIBSON@wbuxtonofficial Ummm, that’s a step backwards, even for regional motorsports that don’t have the technology that F1 has, and I marshalled back when ambulances were sent out under local white flags.
@1FaintingRobin_@wbuxtonofficial Red flags aren’t brought out for convenience, though. They’re so significant that the word “red” is restricted from comms for everything but the flag. Ferraris aren’t red, they’re scarlet or crimson. Once deployed, they cannot be pulled back in until all activity is stopped.
@allardkalff@wbuxtonofficial I’d mentioned elsewhere, that his window of risk was about ten seconds, as that would be how long it took from crash to all pits telling their drivers of his predicament.
@Rufus_GB@Aidancccc@antonbinich@F1GuyDan 👍 “Instigating” is being used as the official term for the first event in a sequence of events. It doesn’t carry the implication of blame or as a deliberate act.
@Rufus_GB@Aidancccc@antonbinich@F1GuyDan Points would not be preserved if the driver instigated the red flag, otherwise you could have drivers deliberately triggering a crash for tactics. Flávio Briatore is case in point.
@Rufus_GB@Aidancccc@antonbinich@F1GuyDan , unless the marshal is making their way trackside, then check your six, and stop at the nearest station on the throttle side to make way for emergency vehicles. Several of our marshal work the Canadian GP, and remark on how the race works.
@Rufus_GB@Aidancccc@antonbinich@F1GuyDan Flags are very inconsistent beyond red, debris, and chequered. I used to tell the riders that the more agitated the marshals appear, the more they had to get their head on a swivel. For red, it was cut power, second gear return to pits…
@Rufus_GB@Aidancccc@antonbinich@F1GuyDan Former race director here.
Red flag results from last completed lap minus the competitor(s) instigating the flag. DNF for Russell.
VSC has reduced pace and race is still on. Red flag has pace heavily reduced and competitors are more aware that they may have to stop as race done.
