The small(ish) hill of Ceapabhal in south west Harris has one of the biggest views of any hill I’ve been on for ages. As well as pristine white beaches, St Kilda was crystal clear from the summit.

Sunday night bivvy at the summit of Ruadh Stac Mor in Fisherfield. I’d had a great day traversing the big horseshoe of hills. Eventually the upper layer of cloud dispersed to reveal a million stars above me. Dawn came quickly with all her beauty.

#OnThisDay in 1822, royal focus returned to the castle as King George IV made a triumphant visit to the castle. This saw a reconciliation between the Scots and the Hanoverian monarchy. He was the first reigning monarch to do so since 1650.
