Day 40 ⛷️
Spent tonight testing a few different marketing angles for the interview prep flow 👥
Some things that sounded great in my head… not so great in the wild 😅
Also been cleaning up the UI so it feels more “obviously click here” and less “solve this puzzle to continue”.
Still loads to improve but it’s getting there 🤌
Anyway… I’m off on a ski trip for a week for a well deserved break ❄️🤝
Will be sure to have many more updates the following week 🫡
Day 39 😎
Fixed a few gremlins in the codebase 🐛🔨
👥 Back to market research
👨💻 Been testing demand for the new interview prep flow
🔍 Learning SEO strategies
🎥 Exploring alternative channels (TikTok, YouTube etc)
Not a big "builder update" tonight though building is the easy part.
It's now time to work on distribution 🤝

Day 38 of building QuizVids 👨💻
Small UI improvements + bug fixes today..
But also a bigger update:
Soft launched the new tech interview prep flow tonight 🥳
For now it’s live on the main domain.
Multi-tenant architecture is still there, but I’m locking in on one core ICP instead of spreading focus.
Users now get:
🔐 Lower-friction signup with OAuth
🌐 A cleaner landing page
🎯 Direct access to the interview prep experience
Moving steady 🫡

Day 37 of building QuizVids 👨💻
The upside of building a SaaS that helps people land tech jobs?
If it fails… at least I can use it myself 👀😂
Been building deeper personalization into the product:
📄 Added resume upload to generate resume-aware interview questions
📋 Implemented job spec input for tailored, job-specific resume optimization advice
🎯 Still supports general role-based guidance if no job spec is provided
🎨 Cleaned up the UI for a more unified, polished feel
Not live yet, still refining and fixing a few pernickety bugs.
But the product is starting to feel meaningfully sharper with each iteration.

Day 36 of building QuizVids 👨💻
Focused on reducing friction and improving onboarding.. while adding a few new features of course 👀
🔐 Added OAuth to simplify signup
🚫 Removed plan selection at signup (prioritizing free users for the interview prep relaunch)
⭐ Added STAR-style question option for behavioural interview prep
🧠 Introduced an enriched quiz mode with deeper context from the video
🌐 Continued refining the main landing page to improve conversions
Right now it’s clarity > complexity.
Make it easier to start.
Make the value obvious.
Then optimize.
@erlalucas Feeback from reddit sparked it, but I also felt it when trying to market the platform.
Was having a hard time defining the exact user I was targeting & pain point I was solving with such a broad scope 😅
Prepping for launch I didn't even notice the waitlist signups had nearly doubled over night! 🤯😅
Hope to see a lot of users enjoying the app today 🤝 🚀

@erlalucas Realized the initial scope was too broad, so I’m niching down to tech interview prep to tighten the value prop and get closer to product-market fit.
Still early, but learning a lot and iterating fast 💪

Day 35 building QuizVids
Doubled down on the interview prep flow today 👩💻
🎯 Added auto video topic selection based on chosen job role
→ Returns a row of curated video options across core topics for that role
✨ Continued polishing the app UI to make everything feel more intentional + clean
🧠 Improved the landing page messaging & design for a clearer “aha” moment
🛠 Started working on a few exciting features (sharing more visual updates tomorrow)
The value prop is finally starting to feel concrete

Day 34 💼
Leaning fully into the tech interview prep niche 👩💻
🎯 Added a job role selector that suggests relevant videos for quiz generation
📊 Built a heatmap-style bar graph in the summary to highlight weak areas
⏱️ Added a timed quiz mode to simulate real interview pressure
🔍 Integrated open job roles to help complete the prep loop
Still refining everything, but this is the first time the product feels aligned with a specific user.
Less generic.. More intentional.
Feels like we’re finally building for someone, not just building 😅

Day 33 of building QuizVids 🫡
Yesterday I said I needed to fix positioning.
Today I picked a lane 🎯
Chose my first narrow niche, tech job interview preppers👩💻
Worked on:
👨🎨Tailored subdomain for that audience
🎥Recorded a niche-specific demo
☁️Added blob storage to serve the video
🔁Fixed a request loop bug
✍️Tweaked the signup flow to improve conversions
No new traffic.. Just tighter focus. Testing if specificity beats scale.

Day 32 of building QuizVids 🤔
Today’s Reddit experiment:
✅️ 35,000+ views
✅️ 95+ upvotes
✅️ 100+ shares
✔️ 2 signups
...And a hard lesson 😭
If intent isn’t crystal clear, communities assume the worst.
Even if the product genuinely helps.
I learned:
• Engagement ≠ buying intent
• Attention ≠ trust
• Hidden promotion kills goodwill
The post proved the pain resonates.. but exposed I still have a positioning problem.
Micro SaaS isn’t about going viral.
It’s about finding the right 100 people, not the loudest 30,000.
Tomorrow:
• Defining the specific audience more clearly
• Building features that deeply serve that use case
We're learning slowly... but surely 😅

Day 31 🏅
We ranked #2 in today’s target subreddit.
Marketing as a first-time founder is one of the biggest hurdles I’ve faced - but small wins compound.
Every day I’m adjusting, adapting, and refining based on feedback and real user behavior.
Yesterday: Niching down after Reddit feedback.
Today: Improving the payment flow UX based on analytics.
Build. Measure. Learn. Repeat.
I’m determined to figure this out. 🎯

Day 30 🧑🎓👩💻🗣️
Yesterday’s Reddit feedback pushed me to niche down.
Today I shipped multi-tenant functionality to production.
QuizVids now supports niche-specific subdomains, starting with coding, students, and languages.
The root domain acts as a portal into each targeted version of the product.
This lets me:
• Tailor messaging per audience
• Track user groups separately
• Build niche-specific features over time
Clearer positioning. More focused growth 🎯
Be honest…
How much of the YouTube tutorials you watch do you actually remember a week later? 😅
I realised I was forgetting most of what I “studied.”
So I built something to fix it.
https://t.co/7mbAiTO36R turns any YouTube video into:
• Instant quizzes
• Flashcards
• A structured learning pack
Paste a link → test yourself immediately.
Way better than simply rewatching videos.
#studytwt
Here’s a quick screen recording of it in action 👇
@appwrite Launched https://t.co/N4vYTgmu2z this week.
It turns any YouTube video into instant quizzes + flashcards so you actually retain what you watch.
Built it around my 9-5 over 30 days.
First real users are coming in now.🚀
Dug into the analytics to figure out why conversions weren’t where they should be.
Traffic to the signup page looked solid… but actual signups? Not so much.
Turns out the signup page was a clunky eyesore 😅 (a neglected page to be honest)
Just shipped a much cleaner, smoother signup flow with a way better UX ✨
Let’s see what the data says next.

Day 29 🚀
Launched QuizVids today!
Didn’t get a flood of users.. but I did get very helpful feedback 🤝
Posted on Reddit and several people suggested I niche down instead of targeting “all YouTube learners.”
They were right.
So I started implementing audience-specific subdomains.. this will help me test & identify the best target audience 👥🎯
