Shaun Scott is State Representative for Washington’s 43rd LD: Capitol Hill, Wallingford, Fremont, the U-District, Montlake, and more. Official account. ✊🏾🏛️
On Tues. 12/2 my office will host a press conference about proposed legislation to mitigate Trump’s austerity budget in Wash. State.
The Well Washington Fund protects healthcare, higher ed, and housing. Let’s make sure it passes in the 2026 Washington State Legislative Session.

“Scott’s bill would create the “Well Washington Fund” to backfill what the federal government takes away. Absent proactive measures by the Legislature, thousands will face greater food insecurity, less access to health care and higher costs for education.” https://t.co/Hx2uysPE8C
Thanks for covering my bill that will backfill federal cuts to Medicaid and welfare.
Your viewers may be interested to know that the areas of our state that depend most heavily on food stamps - Benton and Franklin counties - are GOP-led districts. Fighting for them too…
He’s a socialist, actually. The Dems are handing their budgeting off to the only avowed socialist in the state house. Because the far-left owns the party.
Today I'm calling on @GovBobFerguson to declare a state of emergency: the expiration of SNAP benefits for nearly one million Washingtonians will be a disaster for the health of many, and for the economic health of the state. We must join other state governments and act swiftly.
The Trump Administration can only use the economic desperation of everyday Washingtonians as an ICE recruiting tool if we allow it to.
Let's talk about it at my "Tax The Rich" town hall on Saturday, 10/11 at 3:30 PM @ Seattle First Baptist Church.
Going on @CNN tomorrow to talk with @VictorBlackwell about the Trump regime’s shameful border patrol raid on Washington State firefighters.
What should a national audience know about how 43rd L.D. residents and other Washingtonians feel about what happened on Olympic Peninsula?
In Washington firefighters you see the failures of both corporate Dems locally and MAGA Republicans federally: under-resourced, often incarcerated and/or immigrant fire crews working for starvation wages while braving ICE raids.
When authoritarianism follows austerity, we lose.
Fight as we must to resist these deplorable border patrol raids, if Washington’s wildfire response funding isn’t restored during the 2026 legislative session, state Dems haven’t much higher ground than Trump.
It’s a high priority for my office next year.
Washington fire crews - already operating with fewer resources after the State Legislature cut $60m from its Wildfire Response Account this year - are now suffering border patrol raids.
We all lose when local austerity echoes authoritarianism. https://t.co/eRk3b37Qom
Our lands are for the public and families - generations- to access and enjoy the beauty and rugged terrain around us. Folks who proposed it are short sighted and without thought. All should oppose this vile idea that will harm our access and economic benefit.
One main theme of faux-intellectual neoliberal propaganda in recent years is that we tried progressive policies, and those policies failed. As I discuss in my Copaganda book with lots of funny/disturbing examples, this NYT lie is one of the most pernicious lies in modern media:
The Joint Legislative Audit & Review Committee is the Washington State subcommittee that reviews tax breaks for large corporations and annually recommends closures that can help fund basic services - Stoked to’ve been appointed for 2026! ✊🏾🏛️
Comrades in the Washington labor movement are calling on us to exercise our right to assemble to resist these raids, and to report ICE activity through the @waisn_org Deportation Defense Hotline: 1-844-724-3737.

Confirmed with Washington ACLU this morning that Seattle is one of the five US cities that will see intense ICE presence in the coming days. The Trump Admin’s plan is to target elementary schools, universities, restaurants, and also the Fed building in downtown Seattle.
We let cities continue to fund unaccountable police forces at levels that outpace the social services provided to trans, LGBTQ+, and working-class people, then wonder why Washington struggles to be the socially and economically inclusive state it pretends to be.
For all you people who mistakenly think Seattle is leftist in any way, shape, or form, or has a shortage of police. Police were never defunded & are doing a bang-up job of enacting state violence on innocent civilians. This, but worse, is our future.
We should celebrate Capitol Hill counterprotestors who aren’t letting anti-trans extremists into Washington’s historic stronghold of LGBTQ life without a fight, and are standing up to unaccountable police in the process.
Hate has no place in the 43rd Legislative District. ✊🏾🏳️⚧️
Excited to join 43rd LD residents, advocates, and organizers at a district town hall I’m hosting on 5/31 at Bulldog News in the University District.
We'll review the 2025 legislative session, discuss current local fights for the left, and preview next year in Olympia. Come thru!
