One of the most terrible things we will have to face in the future is learning, one way or another, how many people died in Mariupol in the spring of 2022, when Russia was leveling the city to the ground along with its inhabitants.
Among them were my former classmate and the father of a good friend of mine.
And how many more remain unknown to us, lying in the vast anonymous mass graves on the outskirts of Mariupol, visible even in satellite images.
KALLAS: Whoever says "just give your territory away" needs to understand that it's not only territory — it's people.
This is what happens to the people in the occupied territories: they are killed, they are tortured, their culture is suppressed. We have to keep this in mind.
"Bucha" is the one-word answer to why Ukrainians cannot surrender land to Russian occupation. Land is people, and it means torture and death. Ukrainian victory is the only way the war ends.
Don’t look away, @la_Biennale. This is the ugly face of barbaric Russia—destroyed UNESCO World Heritage in the protected center of Lviv. This is the barbarism you wish to normalize at the Biennale. Get real!
1. Ukraine promptly answers a U.S. call to help with drone interceptors and sends its top experts to the Middle East.
2. Russia helps the Iranian regime with intel to kill Americans.
As a result:
1. Russia and Putin gets praised and cherished by Trump who's relieving Russian oil sanctions and in fact helping save Russian war economy in war against Ukraine.
2. Ukraine gets a spadeful of shit into its face from Trump once again.
Oh, oh, there we go -- I’m starting to understand the rules of this game.
So apparently Orban is totally allowed to:
- undermine sanctions and European aid to Ukraine for years while it fights a gigantic war of national survival,
- throw around threats and call Ukraine a “buffer zone,”
- call for cutting off assistance to Ukraine and for its surrender to Russia,
- plaster all of Hungary with insulting propaganda billboards about Ukraine and Zelensky,
- finance Russia’s war against Ukraine by buying Russian oil while rejecting any alternatives for years,
- swear that he will never allow Ukraine into the EU or NATO,
- whip up anti-Ukrainian hysteria in Hungary amid elections and spam Twitter with anti-Ukraine propaganda slop 24/7,
- openly and publicly call Ukraine “an enemy of Hungary,"
- undermine Ukraine’s territorial integrity in Transcarpathia and Crimea,
- kidnap Ukrainian cash-in-transit guards and seize the property they were transporting for Ukrainian banks.
But GOD FORBID that, after years of all this vile behavior, angry and fed-up Zelensky makes an awkward joke about Orban’s belly and says he’d like to give his phone number to Ukrainian soldiers so they can tell him what they think of him -- that’s a horrifying DEATH THREAT and completely UNACCEPTABLE!!!
🎯 Any one of these Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilians would be front-page news around the world requiring immediate action were they committed by terrorists in Berlin or Paris or London or New York. Normalizing the intentional slaughter of innocents is horrific.
The Russian army has just destroyed a maternity hospital in Zaporizhia.
I no longer know what other war crime Russia still needs to commit against Ukraine for the world to see what kind of monster Ukrainians have been standing up to for years in order to save their country.
After 3 years working under Putin’s missiles and drones as our Ambassador to Ukraine, I resigned when Trump kept appeasing Putin.
The America I proudly served for 28 years does not bow to dictators. It’s not who we are.
But the Trump Admin keeps doing exactly that.

So, say hello to our new Minister of Defense.
He’s 34, and he’s held top-level positions in our government since he was 28.
When I travel abroad for work, I sometimes joke and shock people by telling them that in Ukraine we have a single smartphone app — where you can keep your official passport, your driver’s license, your vehicle registration, your children’s birth certificates, your diploma (and under other digitalization programs, even things like your military ID) and where you can order many government services and documents online.
Mykhailo Fedorov has done an enormous amount for the country’s unique modernization and for the military during the war.
Now he’ll have to bring his character, his managerial talent, and his IT-startup vibe to the Ministry of Defense.
I think no one will argue anymore that it makes no sense for us to try to compete with fascist Russia in sheer numbers of manpower and tanks. Our path is the continued development of our drone revolution and technology, and, above all, cleaning out the eternal Soviet chaos: bureaucracy, freeloading, and corruption that eats away at our defense from the inside.
Wishing success to the young minister.
The only reason long range fires like Taurus and Tomahawks are not in Ukrainian hands comes down to "Putin wouldn’t like it". Letting a KGB dictator set your security policy is absurd cowardice. The costs for Ukraine have been horrific and the costs for Europe keep going up.
Motherfuckers "strike military targets only” so much that they deliberately waited for the peak of winter frost and abnormally severe weather to bring down heating and electricity in Kyiv, Dnipro, and Zaporizhia -- before that in Odesa, and now they’ve also tried to destroy gas reserves used to heat homes in Lviv.
I can imagine Putin puking blood with ferocity that for four years he has been trying to destroy Ukraine’s vital infrastructure and plunge the entire country into a total humanitarian catastrophe, cause social collapse, and depopulate Ukraine -- and yet for four years it has been adapting to this life, not giving up, and fighting back.
You will never ever to get Ukraine again, Mr. Dickhead, and you will die knowing you failed.
Once again -- no, you corrupt and hypocritical faces: Ukraine has fought this war heroically and valiantly, and Russia has suffered a humiliating fiasco -- and Ukraine is not going to capitulate and self-destruct as a nation just because you are itching to pursue your “commercial opportunities” with the Kremlin -- no matter how hard you try to portray feeding Ukraine to Putin as “peace.”
Witkoff: Russia will legally enshrine its commitment not to attack other countries or territories and not to violate their sovereignty.
Are they not laughing at themselves yet?
The concession Russia has agreed to is that it won’t seize the entire territory of Ukraine, says Witkoff.
This man is one of the greatest walking disasters of 21st-century Western politics.
