The saddest photos ever taken:
A thread 🧵
1. This photo, taken in 1993, shows a starving child being stalked by a vulture in Sudan. Kevin Carter, who won a Pulitzer Prize in 1994 for this infamous picture, died by suicide the same year at the age of 33. In his suicide note, he wrote, "I am haunted by the vivid memories... of starving or wounded children..."
Andy Rooney landed on the beach of Normandy days after D-Day, 80 years ago today. In 2004, he shared a firsthand account of “a day unlike any other.”
“It’s hard for anyone who has been in a war to describe the terror of it to anyone who hasn’t,” he said. https://t.co/xknrIeLymT.
@BenjeeBallgame I don't know why people hate on it so. There's so many worse ads. But b/c everyone's sharing their dislike so much, my recall is astoundingly strong and Apple hasn't paid to reach me. (Imagine if that was the plan and Yes to your other points as well.)👇
Incredibly disturbing to see the statue of Jackie Robinson, stolen and vandalized. His legacy deserves better.
If you can, please donate to help replace the statue and make this right.
