Best believe I'm still bejeweled, when I walk in the room, I can still make the whole place shimmer ✨️ -Taylor Swift
This tiara was worn by Shakopee Derby Days Princess Amber Montgomery in 2008.

#OOTD: Fall Edition 🍂🍁
Happy #FirstDayOfFall! Here, siblings George, Mary Louise, and Catherine Mingo show off their best fall fashion in the early 1920s.
Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning British monarch, undeniably influenced global culture and history for most of the 20th century and into the 21st. Her reign spanned the terms of 14 U.S. Presidents and she leaves behind a complex and storied legacy.
SCHS is closed today, Monday, September 5, for the Labor Day holiday. We will reopen with our regular hours on Tuesday, September 6!

To end the day, we're featuring a local favorite: Dan Patch, the famous racehorse.
He broke harness racing record after record throughout his career, including setting a 1:55 mile record in 1906.
We hope you enjoyed these sports snapshots!

We couldn’t talk about Minnesota sports without talking about the one that we’re most famous for: hockey. Here, the 1978 boys' hockey team poses for their yearbook photo.

While cars are usually preferred today, at the turn of the century, bicycles were all the rage. Women enjoyed the new freedom and independence that bikes offered, making it easier to travel to the homes of relatives and friends.

Football has been around for a long time. The sport has undergone many changes throughout its history, particularly when it comes to uniforms, padding, and rules. Here, Frank Dierberger of Shakopee models his football uniform in 1890.

The first mention of basketball in Scott County is of a women’s team. This was one of the few sports that was considered acceptable for women to play.

September’s #ArchivesHashtagParty with @usnatarchives is #ArchivesSports! Throughout the day, we’ll be running through sports history of Scott County.
To kick off the day, we’re featuring a baseball team made up of twelve brothers: The Fredricksons from New Market Township.
It's #NationalBeachDay! ⛱
With more shoreline than California, Minnesotans are no stranger to lakes and beaches. Here, a group of children swim in Prior Lake at the Grainwood Hotel in 1898.
We’re soarin,’ flyin…’ ✈️
While this young girl from 1915 might not get too far in her model plane, we couldn’t let #NationalAviationDay fly by without sharing this photo.
How do you build a rollercoaster? Very carefully.
These images are of the High Roller coaster at @ValleyfairMN . It was built for Valleyfair between 1974 and 1976. The classic white coaster still stands today and thrills many visitors each season. 🎢#NationalRollercoasterDay
Before end-of-the-year highlight video reels, there were vinyl records that recapped the year like this one from 1969. Produced by CBS, it covers the major events of that year, including the moon landing, Woodstock, and the Mets winning the World Series.

It's #NationalBookLoversDay!
By far the most interesting cover in our collection, "How It Is Nowadays," dating to 1969, is filled with short stories, poems, and related exercises. It was used at St. Mark's school, likely as a textbook for an English or reading class. 📚
Happy #NationalWaterparkDay! This photo is of the Soak City, then Whitewater Country, waterpark at Valleyfair in 1993. It has undergone many changes since then, including the addition of new waterslides and a wave pool. 🌊
