@FlightingApp 9 to 3 swing. You have to learn how to stop your arm swing with a half wedge shot with your left arm (assuming you are a righty) at 9 o'clock in the back swing. Use video to be sure you are getting it.
The transition from back swing to the down swing is the most important part of the golf swing. You get that right, you will have much greater potential as a good ball striker.
@FlightingApp You don't want to slow it down. Good players generally do not have slow transitions. The issue I find with many golfers is that they let their arms and hands continue in the backswing after their shoulders are done turning. That puts you in a bad spot at the top.
@drakesmith__ Agreed. The golf swing produces wear and tear, so speed training should be the lowest priority. Get strong, get durable, work on mobility, improve your swing if needed. All of that will go a long way toward improving swing speed.
Good golf is all about skill development... short putts, lag putts, chip shots, pitch shots, flop shots, bunker shots, short irons, long irons, the driver, etc. Pick one skill to focus on each month and this will help lower your scores.
If you want to generate more power and speed in your golf swing, here are your priorities, in order 1) Swing improvement, 2) Improve your strength, 3) Develop more body speed (sprints, plyometrics) 4) Improve your mobility 5) Swing speed training (lowest priority)
63-year-old Vijay Singh just won on the Champions Tour.
His first win since 2023 and his 6th Champions Tour win.
Probably will head to the range and hit 300 or 400 balls after the trophy ceremony to work a few things out.
Butch Harmon believes modern instruction has lost its way. ๐ค

I unfortunately agree. It seems that the younger players' search for swing speed is creating some really bad positions in the swing. Viewing Jackson's swing, it is hard for me to imagine he won't have to deal with back issues at some point.
Read that Will Zalatoris will sadly need major back surgery and is out all next year. Watched a podcast with Jimmy Ballard recently... he's highly critical of the direction of the modern swing, mentioned will, and suggests Jackson Koivun will be out of pro golf by age 30.
