Retired NHL Official. Happily married. D-Day enthusiast that runs Tours to Normandy. Proud father of two children plus an angel in Heaven. RIP Ryan 7-13-2025
This great looking crew was out for “Hike for Hospice” in support of Hospice Wellington. They took loving care of Ryan last summer. Thanks everyone for supporting “Team Root For Ryan!” ❤️💚
On D-Day, 14,000 Canadians landed at Juno Beach, supported by the Royal Canadian Navy and the RCAF. The day saw 1,074 Canadian casualties, including 359 killed. It was a watershed moment in human history.
Here are some of the Canadian stories from that day.

@ForbesIrforbes Thanks Ian. We Canadians appreciate you doing that. Just in the middle of a Tour right now and it’s so great to see the Canadian flags flying in Normandy. The waves we get as we travel by van with 2 flags in our side windows is truly an amazing feeling.
It was a bit rainy this morning at the Juno Beach Centre in Courseulles sur Mer but by the afternoon the sun was out when we stopped at Beny Sur Mer Canadian War Cemetery.
Tonight in Guelph the IBL Royals promoted “Be A Donor” for the Canadian Transplant Association. Coleen and I proudly represented our son Ryan who passed away July 13th, 2025 from liver failure. Ryan loved playing, watching and umpiring baseball.
It was an absolute pleasure to not only meet distinguished author David Eisenhower on a recent Cruise in Italy but an even greater pleasure to talk about one of my favourite topics with the grandson of Dwight D Eisenhower….D-Day, June 6th 1944!
@DarrenMcCarty4 Well said Darren! You’re a classy guy. Always have been. Always will be. That’s why dealing with you on the ice was always a pleasure. Hope you’re doing well my friend!
@strome18@Sportsnet Life is good. Only thing I miss about being on the ice is the fun interactions with guys like you!
Was telling my son Devon who is an OHL Linesperson about the “Brad” story! Classic.
Be well and keep up the good work. I’m off to Normandy soon for one of my D-Day Tours!
@SNETCampbell My deepest sympathies to the Johnson family. Losing a child is the most painful experience a parent can ever go through. I’m so happy Wes was able to have his wish fulfilled. I’m sure Ryan and Wes will watch the Jays together up in Heaven. You’re a wonderful man Jamie ❤️💙💚
Today we visited the Merville Battery, Pegasus Bridge and Sword Beach. Stopped for a photo in front of Canadian Born “Piper Bill Millin.” He served as Brigadier General Lord Lovat’s personal Piper and piped the troops ashore on D-Day.
@For_Film_Fans Visiting there tomorrow on my D-Day Tour. Amazing movie and great story about Richard Todd playing Major Howard.
Richard Todd was in the 7th Parachute Battalion of the 5th Parachute Brigade in the British 6th Airborne Division.
Standing inside the Caen Memorial in front of a suspended Typhoon. It was an Allied Fighter/Bomber that had 8 underwing rockets capable of knocking out a German Tank.
