One of my biggest questions was whether this would be entirely theoretical/theological, or whether Leo wanted to make it practical and engage directly with the tech world. This clearly points to the latter.

We have simultaneously cut resources to independently report or confirm, and outsourced "reporting" to non-journalists who often have partisan aims.

This is the case with so many other big topics right now, too - but the way intentionally or unintentionally inaccurate items about Leo can quickly infect the entire news ecosystem is pretty remarkable.

A lot of attention on May 8th as an important anniversary for Pope Leo.

Today is one, as well! May 11, 1963 was Robert Prevost's First Communion at St. Mary's in Chicago.

On this one-year anniversary: one of my favorite pics I came across as I worked on "American Pope": this selfie then-Bishop Prevost snapped with Francis and sent to a friend in Illinois when he was attending the training program for new bishops known as "Baby Bishop School."
