Police surprised abusive husband by entering house unannounced.
The desperate cries of "James please stop" echoing through a Darien, Illinois home on when Darien police officers gained entry into a residence after receiving reports of a woman scre@ming for help.
What they encountered inside is a stark, harrowing look at the immediate dangers of d*mestic ab*se and the rapid response required by law enforcement.
Upon breaching the front door, officers immediately navigated a home in complete disarray, including a large hole freshly punched into the bedroom doorl—a clear sign of the chaos that had just occurred.
Upon entering the back bedroom, officers discovered a man, later identified as Matthew James Pausche, actively hovering over a highly distressed woman to the floor alongside a bed.
The situation escalated instantly as officers moved into the tight space, shouting commands for Pausche to get away from the woman and put his hands behind his back.
Recognizing the high volatility of the situation and the immediate threat to the victim, an officer drew a taser, keeping it aimed and ready to deploy if the suspect resisted.
Facing the immediate threat of less-lethal force, Pausche ultimately complied with the officers' orders, allowing himself to be handcuffed and moved out of the residence without the taser ever needing to be fired.
Once secured in the back of a squad car, Pausche was read his Miranda rights. When questioned by officers about what had transpired inside the home, his compliance ended entirely. He declined to offer any details, simply stating: "I got nothing to say to you."
While the suspect remained silent, the physical evidence spoke volumes. The woman suffered visible injur!es from the ass@ult.
While being treated by paramedics on the scene, she was noticeably shaken and consumed by intense fear, telling responding officers, "He's gonna k!ll me." In a heartbreaking moment captured on camera, she also expressed terror to the deputies about her own past—mentioning she was a convicted felon and feared getting into trouble.
Officers quickly reassured her that she was the v*ctim and faced no legal jeopardy. Court and medical documentation later noted that the severity of her injur!es required immediate evaluation for potential fr@ctures.
Following the incident, Matthew Pausche was booked and hit with multiple criminal charges, including:
Domestic Battery (Physical Contact)
Domestic Battery (Bodily Harm)
Resisting a Peace Officer / Obstructing Justice

On May 30, 2026, LMPD Officer Nathan Stotts fatally shot 27-year-old Martin Nitzken Jr., who was in the middle of a severe bipolar episode.
Before police arrived, Nitzken tore shutters off a home and assaulted 3 people, including dislocating his neighbor's shoulder.
When Nitzken stood up from the street and walked toward him, Stotts gave commands and backed away before firing a single fatal shot.
After Nitzken fell, it took 3 minutes and 45 seconds before any medical aid was rendered.
On June 2, LMPD Chief Paul Humphrey announced he is moving to terminate Stotts, stating the officer “made the wrong call” and violated department training.

Man With Extensive Arrest History Killed During Tulare County Welfare Check Encounter
TULARE, Calif. — The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office has identified Michael Piñon, 38, as the man who was fatally shot during an officer-involved shooting on May 20, 2026, in the 400 block of Matheny Road south of Tulare.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 10:30 a.m. to conduct a welfare check after reports of a possible disturbance in the area. During checks of nearby homes, deputies made verbal contact with Piñon through an open back door of a residence. Investigators said Piñon refused repeated commands to exit and instead told deputies to come down the hallway where he was located.
Authorities said Piñon later emerged from the hallway and ran out the back door holding a black object above his head. Investigators determined afterward that the object was a cellphone. The sheriff’s office said Piñon held the phone in a manner that deputies believed resembled a weapon. Two deputies fired a total of three rounds, striking Piñon. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The California Department of Justice is investigating the shooting, as required in officer-involved shootings resulting in a death.
The investigation found Piñon did not have permission to be inside the residence and had no relationship with the property owners. Investigators reported visible damage to the door that indicated it had been forcibly opened. A small amount of illegal narcotics was recovered inside the home. Preliminary toxicology screening indicated Piñon was under the influence of methamphetamine and cocaine at the time of the incident.
According to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, Piñon had been arrested nine times during the previous three years. Authorities said those arrests included offenses related to being under the influence of a controlled substance and two prior arrests for obstructing or resisting a peace officer.

🌿 At what point does a policy become too unpopular to keep defending? Polling shows support for marijuana prohibition continuing to decline as most Americans live with legal cannabis.
So why are so many politicians still fighting to preserve it? And more importantly, why are you still voting for them?

🐕🦺How Dogs Smell Things Differently Than We Do
When we smell beef stew cooking, we think, 'Mmmm, I smell beef stew!'
But when a dog smells beef stew, he thinks, 'Mmmm, I smell corn, I smell beans, I smell carrots, celery, flour, rosemary, black pepper, onion, I smell beef."
