He's young and insensitive but the point is valid. As a popular medium declines, it does not die but becomes an elite form. Smaller and less culturally significant.
Live theatre used to be a popular medium, people would attend live dramatic or comedic performances, such as in Vaudeville. But now, live theatre only exists as an elite medium.
