I’ve been wrong, and it’s time for me to own up to it.

You’ve told me that Gaza was occupied, and I said it wasn’t.

You’ve told me that Gaza was an open-air prison, and I said it wasn’t.

You’ve told me that there was a genocide going on in Gaza, and I said there wasn’t.

I was wrong.

The Islamic Regime of Iran, through its proxy Hamas, has been occupying Gaza for decades. It has kept the people of Gaza in a literal open-air prison, stealing their international aid to use it for terrorist activities and to build mansions for themselves.

And then there’s the genocide in Gaza. Being governed by a terrorist group that doesn’t care about the well being of the people in the territory. Hamas has ruled with an iron fist, executing those who spoke out against them, placing rocket launchers and munitions in people’s homes and schools and hospitals, intentionally trying to get responses to hit civilians, training innocent children to be martyrs, getting them to kill themselves in the name of Hamas.

So yes, world - those of you saying “occupied” and “open-air prison” and “genocide”, you’ve been right.

You’re just wrong about who’s responsible for it. About who’s actually treating the people of Gaza this way.
