@TracesofTexas On Route 66 we meet travelers from all over the world. They regularly stop into the Circus Room. They walk in ready to flee at a moments notice. When they leave it's with hand shakes and well wishes all around. And hopefully a true understanding of what Texans are really like.
@GetMyGuitars " Oh,Pretty Woman"was the first one that made me realize that guitars weren't all Hillbilly stuff. Still gets me.
"Walk Away" James Gang.
Immediately came to mind next. So good that I'm still thinking what #2 could be.
@TracesofTexas Had to do a quick look into the history of these Ladies I was unaware of until this post. Turned into a deep dive real fast. What a great story. There's a documentary, "The Girls in the Band" that will rip your heart out and then put it back together again. Thanks Jac. Love it.
@TracesofTexas "The Worst Hard Time" by Timothy Egan is a fascinating book about the Dalhart area during the Dust Bowl. Although it may sound like a dry read (no pun intended) it's anything but. Egan really got to know these folks and describes their lives in loving detail. Highly Recommended.
@GetMyGuitars A 1978 Les Paul Artisan I bought from a pawn shop in 1980 for $600 which was a months pay at the time. Sold it a year later for $800 thinking I had made out like a bandit. It was too heavy and I hated those gaudy gold pickups. Now priced at 6 to 35k. Pic is obviously not mine
