@grahamformaine I thought the Marines were looking for a few good men? Way to man up! Really? You send your wife to do your bidding. Wow that's really showing some moral courage!
Wade, this response comes across more as condescension than biblical argument. Meghan challenged your position, and rather than answering her point, you pivoted to a caricature about women being told to "sit down and shut up." No one is arguing that. Meghan herself is proof of the opposite. The issue is not whether women can speak; it's whether Scripture reserves the office of pastor for qualified men. Let's deal with the actual argument, not a straw man.
It seems to me like the reason the SBC began to release statistics on how many women are nominated as trustees was specifically so this data be used to create a narrative (a narrative that looks just like the feminist arguments in the broader culture) that we should have gender parity on our boards.
Notice when they started to be released. In 2022 under the presidency of @bartbarber.
The same Barber who has continually—first with the Law amendment and now with the Mohler amendment—worked to ensure that we will have no clarifying amendment that will definitively require SBC churches not to allow women pastors.
They are going to slow walk this compromise and tell you the entire way that there are other ways to address the issue at the same time that they continue to allow churches with women pastors to remain in our association.
Because that is always the progressive play. It’s just like when Obama assured everyone that he was against gay marriage until he had the political power to shift and admit that he was actually for gay marriage.
Something everyone who was paying attention to what he did rather than what he said, already knew.
On the issue of women pastors, I have many dear friends in other denominations who I love though they believe women can wield pastoral authority and preach to the gathered body.
Obviously, I think they’re wrong. But I also believe that this is a secondary issue and these are true brothers and sisters.
But one reason the Bashams are Southern Baptists is because we believe that the SBC is doctrinally faithful in this matter. If the day should come when the SBC capitulates to those who are trying to slowly move the convention to accept female pastors, we will no longer be Southern Baptists.
Which I’m sure would make some former presidents of the SBC very happy. Their problem is, there are a lot of other Southern Baptists who would go with us.

As a Spirit-gifted and God-called woman, please stop this. There are many ways God empowers and calls women to serve. Foremost is in teaching and raising of godly children.
I do not want roles that God has not given me as that will not be for my good nor the good of the church.
“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.”
—Upton Sinclair
Same goes for pollsters who make money “certifying” women “pastors.”
Don’t be duped by those incentivized to twist Scripture.
@RandPaul I have one question for you and @SenateGOP why dont you replace the Democrat leader @LeaderJohnThune and then remove the gutless fillabuster fund DHS and pass the Save Act?
Appreciate the kind words. Respectfully, my military service has absolutely nothing to do with Christ's Kingdom. Appealing to my past rank doesn't answer 1 Timothy 2, 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, or 1 Corinthians 14. You and I will stand before God, The Bible my authority, why we must stay with the text. The issue isn't my title or yours—it's whether we're willing to submit to what God's Word plainly teaches, even when our culture doesn't like it.
Only a Democrat would stop recess appointments, block secure election laws, and fund the Taliban.
Make no mistake about it... @LeaderJohnThune is a Democrat.
@TomCottonAR Your words speak louder than your actions RHINO! Perhaps you should stop block @POTUS nominees and pass the SAVE ACT and you won't have to about illegals voting!
Dear @HawleyMO,
To you, you were just following a Senate procedural step by gavelling in a pro forma session.
To President Trump, you were blocking his recess appointments.
To MAGA voters and Americans at large, that action alone has cost them:
- Delayed border enforcement
- Slower deportations
- Delayed judicial appointments
- Slower dismantling of the Deep State
- Delayed economic reforms
- Delayed trade enforcement
- Delayed agency restructuring
- More time for bureaucrats to sabotage the agenda Americans voted for
You may call it procedure.
Americans call it obstruction.
And obstruction has consequences.
MAGA is watching.
We won’t forget these SC Senators:
Senator Sean Bennett
Senator Chip Campsen
Senator Richard Cash
Senator Ronnie Cromer
Senator Tom Davis
Senator Greg Hembree
Senator Michael Johnson
Senator Shane Massey
Senator Harvey Peeler
Senator Luke Rankin
Senator Everett Stubbs
Senator Jeff Zell
Another example of why the SBC needs to solve this issue.
Valley Ranch Baptist Church in Coppell, Texas is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention but features multiple female pastors on staff who preach during Sunday services.
