@mgreiler Mostly with larger-scale changes where the author consciously broke the problem into smaller chunks and addressed them with separate commits. Otherwise it can be hard to know where to start with this type of review.

@mgreiler @kentcdodds If a full change history was available I would take it into account in the review, but I don’t think it’s ever essential. These types of questions can all be talked through or documented in other ways.

@mgreiler @kentcdodds For me: if the code being reviewed is all new, the latest revision is fine (the code should speak for itself). If reviewing a new change introduced to an existing system, it would be helpful to see at least the original state if not every step along the way to the final commit.
