Memphis mom’s split-second decision may have saved a 3-year-old’s life.

Jabril Walls had just dropped her own kids off at school and was heading to her grandmother’s house in Frayser when she saw a tiny girl standing alone in the middle of a busy street.

She didn’t wait. She pulled over, used her car to block traffic, opened her arms — and the frightened toddler ran straight to her, asking for mommy and daddy.

Together with her grandmother, Walls followed the little girl’s clues: a gray-and-white house, shoes left behind. When they couldn’t find the home right away, they took her to the fire station and called police.

By the end of the day, the child was back with her family. Walls later said it looked like an innocent accident, not neglect. She’s stayed in touch — invited to the little girl’s birthday party and named her unofficial godmother.

“It takes a village,” Walls said. “Thank God I was there at the right time.”

One person who stopped instead of driving past made all the difference.

LET'S GO! America has every right to decide who enters and remains within its borders. Federal agents conducting targeted operations against people who entered or stayed illegally are simply enforcing statutes Congress already passed. Citizens who follow the rules should not have to compete with those who ignore them.
