It's a horrible punishment for a child who has done nothing wrong but the underlying issue is also infuriating. Schools should not be allowed to force parents to shell out extra cash they may not have to official suppliers. Supermarket uniforms are fine, it's pure snobbery.

@MuggleNet Ron could have been a Hufflepuff, Hermione could have been a Ravenclaw and Harry could have been a Slytherin. Luna could have been a Gryffindor, Cho should have been a Hufflepuff, Diggory was very Gryffindor, McClaggen could have been in Slytherin etc. No-one is just one thing.
