@joeroganhq "Ain't NOTHING free." Government response to Covid has come at a great cost to every self-supporting American. Inflation alone has cost us billions, if not trillions.
I agree. If you can’t or won’t adapt, then you should not be allowed to drive. That is definitely a big concern in the commercial driving industry today in America and it needs to be dealt with. My point, is that adaptability does not go away with English proficiency. It is not the solution that many think it is. There are plenty of English-speaking drivers that are a menace to those sharing the road with them.
Culture is learned mostly by observation and taking part. (When in Rome....)
Common sense and responsibility has nothing to do with language.
English proficiency is important for American businesses on many levels. However, it does not solve the problem of irresponsible driving.
Well said!
It just feels lazy on the part of politicians. English proficiency is already the law for CDLs, so it’s low hanging fruit for politicians to make this the scapegoat and start enforcing it. Making a u-turn on a turnpike has nothing to do with English proficiency. Watching tv or playing with your phone while driving into stopped or slowed traffic, has nothing to do with English proficiency. It’s basic common sense, acting responsibly, being considerate, and adapting to our culture of driving. The commercial driving industry is definitely in need of some serious house cleaning. English proficiency is not the solution. The problem will likely solve itself with autonomous trucking in the very near future.
@wrong_speak@SonOfAristotle@SecDuffy Retired from the road now. Had over 1 million miles in semi trucks (car hauler), over 2 million miles in tour buses (charter and entertainer).
@SonOfAristotle@SecDuffy@wrong_speak I am fluent in English only. I have driven in French-speaking Quebec many times, never had an incident. It’s basic common sense and culture definitely plays a role in safe driving.
According to Grok, it is real.
post from today is legitimate, and the story it links to is based on an actual viral video from a Mother's Day gender reveal party in Memphis, Tennessee (May 10, 2026).A woman named Dee Drac live-streamed the event on Facebook. She revealed the baby was a girl, then took what she described as abortion pills (mifepristone/misoprostol) on camera in front of friends and family. People in the crowd can be heard cheering things like “kill it!” while she thanks Jesus, dances, and complains about the baby’s father not showing up. The video quickly spread across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X.She later posted an update claiming she got drunk and threw up the pills, so it’s unclear if the abortion occurred. No arrests have been reported (Tennessee’s abortion ban targets providers, not the woman herself). Not the Bee is just aggregating and highlighting the widely circulated footage — it’s not satire or AI-generated. The incident is as disturbing as the post makes it sound.Yes, it's real.The@Not_the_Bee
@Solarsupr3mcy@TheAgentRocket@FreightAlley One would think that one's own mother would know more about her son than his employer. Not sure where you are going with this. Are you saying employers need to interview parents before they can hire an employee?
