@AlaskanRock@leo_szac I sort of agree to an extent. I house hacked for 8 of 10 years, it was incredibly powerful, but the power diminishes quickly after the first few years.
I also ran a large business and built substantial other wealth, and the last house hack was a 5 bedroom half duplex.
@dollarsanddata I agree, with the caveat that choosing, irrevocably, from a position of strength, with options, is far, far superior to being locked in for external reasons,
It’s the difference between starting a business, because you chose to, and working for an employer because you must.
@DadisFIRE@theficouple@AffordAnything@JLCollinsNH@mrmoneymustache In the last year, I've been spending a lot more time on data.
Perhaps the broader FI community is very different than BP Money.
Perhaps FIRE "ought to be" zero active income.
But, the BP Money community is clear, and I serve them.
@DadisFIRE@theficouple@AffordAnything@JLCollinsNH@mrmoneymustache The BP Money community is split - some will start businesses, some intend to never earn another dollar, and some are on the fence.
I think all choices are valid and welcome, and personally intend to start, build, and advise various businesses over the next 30 years.
I defend my stance that forgoing the 401k (but taking the match) for 2-5 years can be a life altering positive decision with very small tax drag at https://t.co/k7AaS79UZy
@theandering We’ll find out. I think you are dead wrong. You think I am.
I bet this transition is going to play out very suddenly and disruptively over the next 10-15 years.
@MartyTheElder I think it’s really important that a handful of major cities continually carry out this experiment. It’s powerful learning for the rest of the country, and what makes America so unusually durable.
