"Suffering, it appears, is not simply something through which the faithful people must pass to get to their destination. It is in itself the way which the dark powers that have ruled the world will exhaust themselves, the way in which the one off victory won by the messiah on the cross will be implemented in the new world." -N.T Wright in his biography of Paul.
Wonderful conference in Columbus, Georgia, with @AbbevilleInst! It was wonderful to meet and hear such great thinkers and scholars such as @BrionMcClanahan and @WanjiruNjoya!
I was Born a 6th generation rancher raised working with the land. I am also blessed to serve my community as a judge. Out with my cowdogs I considered my list of veterans I would call to thank them for Veterans Day for their service; the list now shorter as my grandpa who served in WW2 in the Pacific, Bill W who served as Sargent in Korea , Bill K a Captain serving a as pilot in Vietnam and later fly U2's, Marvin and Uncle Jim who served as special forces in Vietnam. All great men. Now passed on and hopefully reunited with their friends who didn't make it back from all those foreign wars, having given the ultimate sacrifice. One who I will call is John W. He worked for my family for years . John served as Green Beret in Vietnam. Silver Star, Bronze Star , mutiple purple hearts to name a few as one of the most decorated Veterans in NM. John was one a few who escaped from the infamous Hanoi Hilton prison camp. How else could I live a life so blessed if not for Jesus Christ and also for all those Veterans who fought, bled, and had to endure unimaginable times. It is because of you I can go out peacefully with my Cowdogs and so much more. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.
Happy Thanksgiving. It was a great day at the ranch. It has been a rough year with the loss of both my parents. However, I still have so much to be thankful for, and I know we are Blessed to live where we live, have an amazing family, and have the life we have. God Bless
Enjoyed coffee with my bride on our porch, then took the cow dogs out for their morning exercise, and then off to church at FBC Deming. A nice November Sunday in Southern NM.
Join us tomorrow at 6am for a ceremony that will honor the sacrifice of the Alamo Defenders at dawn. Dawn at the Alamo describes the events leading up to the morning hour of the Alamo battle and includes readings, vignettes, music, wreath-laying, and a musket volley.
