One year ago today, Sgt. Scott Heimann answered a domestic call in Hays, Kansas, and never came home.

Heimann, 32, was fatally shot September 28, 2025 while responding to a domestic disturbance. He was married with two children. The KBI wrapped its investigation in December. The city of Hays scheduled a Sergeant Scott William Heimann Remembrance Day proclamation for Thursday.
