@notsostupid_ Ur deductible (what u have to pay before insurance will pay anything) resets every Jan 1 back to 0. Since I knew the ER bill would be several thousand $, I wanted it to be applied in the new yr so the rest of that yr insurance paid things. My deduc was $2500/yr
