Today Margaret Thatcher would have turned 99 years old.
The Iron Lady’s conviction to the advancement of freedom, enterprise and aspiration is unmatched and her dedication to public service continues to inspire. We remember the legacy she left and continue to build upon her struggle to change Britain for the better.
Our thoughts are with His Majesty King Charles III and the whole Royal Family today, two years since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
I continue to treasure my memories of the occasions when I met Her Late Majesty.
People across the UK – whether they had the good fortune to meet Her Late Majesty or not – will be reflecting today on what she meant to them and the example she set for us all.
The scale of her service to this country will never be forgotten.
Choice is the essence of ethics. If there were no choice there would be no ethics, no good, no evil. Good and evil only have meaning in so far as man is free to choose.
Wealth has to be created before it can be taxed. That's what puts more into health, puts more into education, puts more into pensions, and still leaves enough to reduce the national debt. That's how it's done. But you have to be a Conservative to do it.
Over-taxation is transparently foolish. Most of us are willing to work for our families and neighbours but not for the Chancellor of the Exchequer. In a free country people will work hard if it pays them to do so. At present taxes are so high that for many it is not worthwhile.
I believe in the acceptance of personal responsibility, freedom of choice, and the British Empire, which took freedom and the rule of law to countries which would never have known it otherwise.
🇬🇧 It’s time to choose leadership over chaos. While the Social Democrats and Nationals are tangled in their own interests, we’re here to deliver a united and strong Britain.
