Maybe we should prepare. We oldies remember the 1968 storm which killed (I think) over 20 people. Buildings were wrecked. Partick was hit bad.

Then the 70s we had outages & could only use electricity for a few hours or days.

This storm has left a couple of people dead.

Actually it’s not. We have the most benign weather in the world & many younger people & those living in urban areas have never had so much as a power cut. It hasn’t occurred to many to prep for the type of emergency which might occur.

Awful. All the old (some new or knocked off) settees, mattresses, pallets, you name it, we threw into the river to do our bit cleaning up the city - all coming back. What a waste of time.

Glasgow and south-west were bad enough, but man the islands, coastline and any hill higher than a flight of stairs and you’d be mad to go for a wee wander up a mountain. Putting you (not you, Isla) and the rescue teams in danger, too.

I just had a day and night in. Watched an absolutely cracking film called “Joe's College Road Trip” by @tylerperry. Beyond funny. Neighbours probably thought I was having a fit. Also illuminating and poignant. Lot of stuff in there to take note of. What a film. ❤️

@joe_yer99 😆 honestly, you can just wander outside and film the city centre & slap an exaggerated thumbnail on it. Been a few Glasgow folks doing it for a few years, more pop up & they start getting the views in pretty fast. But ton of stuff can do even faceless.

Helsinki airport is basically one massive hotel and leisure park. Could live in there. I’ve spent many nights just sleeping in one of many, varied pods, benches, big wooden circle seating things.

And you can even smoke in one of the smoking lounges.
