Despite this, we are hopeful that many of the actions included in the Plan will be undertaken in the next year, and that we will see a marked improvement in the ways that non-binary people are included and recognised in society across Scotland.
Today the Scottish Government has released their Non-Binary Equality Action Plan Progress Report 2024 which you can read in full here: https://t.co/HWVqwTjR3I

We are pleased that Scottish Government is continuing this important work, but we are underwhelmed by the progress made on advancing non-binary equality in Scotland. Much of the work completed was already in progress, and not specific to non-binary equality and inclusion.
10 countries across Europe have already taken action to end conversion practices. Scotland should join the growing number of countries that recognises the harm they cause, and introduce the measures needed to protect LGBTQA+ people.

We hope this will help us to understand more about what happened, but more importantly, be reassured that these kinds of interruptions to people’s care will be avoided at all costs in the future.

NHS Lothian has confirmed that 18-24 year olds will once again be able to be assessed and referred for gender affirming surgery at Chalmers Gender Identity Clinic. Read their announcement at: https://t.co/CQtJnjlGKZ
We will be meeting with members of staff from NHS Lothian and East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership (who manage Chalmers Gender Identity Clinic) this week.
We still think that it isn’t very clear why this pause happened. In particular, we’re not sure why it took longer to recommence assessments and referrals for people aged 18-24.
We’re really pleased that the pause has been lifted, and that NHS Lothian has acknowledged the impact this will have had on those people who should have been assessed and/or referred for surgery during this time.
We're so excited to welcome you to our 2024 Conference - Create and Change - TOMORROW!
If you haven't signed up for a ticket yet, here is our final group of workshops and activities you can take part in on the day. Sign up for a free ticket here: https://t.co/LYAMUvm7qW
Conversion practices seek to change or suppress who we are and who we love on the basis that being LGBTQA+ is "wrong", and that it's better to be heterosexual and/or cisgender.
They still happen in Scotland, and that has to change.
