No, those things are not DIGITALLY linked nor interconnected.

Your bank has your ID but the Department of Home Affairs has no idea who you bank with. Same as the Department of Transport has your ID but has no access to the car you drive.

Digital ID changes all of this because it integrates everything. The practical implications of that are that the Government will be able to freeze your bank account, immobilize your car, shut off your electricity/water/cellphone/wifi, and so much more at the click of a button. Much of this already happens in China.

I’m astonished that so many people want to view this a fictional threat when less than 5 years ago we lived through a time when Government told you when you could leave your house to exercise, restricted access to beaches/rivers/parks, and toyed with vaccine mandates as well as vaccine passports.

Wake up! You do not give this kind of power to your best friend let alone your worst enemy - and perhaps you can figure out which one the government happens to be.

A reminder that the United States’ terms for normalization of relations with South Africa have nothing to do with the ICJ case against Israel.

The terms are:

- classification of farm murders as priority crimes
- condemnation of songs which call for people to be killed
- exempting American companies from BEE requirements
- expropriation of land with compensation after exhausting all legal processes

The first 3 are achievable within hours or days. The last one would take years but a Parliamentary amendment could be drawn up and lodged within months.
