At the Virginia HS League Championships, Pulaski County (VA) junior Cole Boone just broke the U.S. high school 1000m record in 2:20.14.
He split 1:49.60 through the 800m.
Previous record of 2:22.28 was held by Robby Andrews since 2009.
Hear this from a 1500m (3:26.34) dude. I’ve always maintained that the 3000m_WR of 7:20.67 is the HARDEST WR to break. In my opinion- It’s harder than the 1500m_WR | no disrespect to my dear brother, Hicham 🙌🏾
Jakob’s 7:17.55 is WILD!!
Kristen Faulkner (@FaulknerKristen) has one of the craziest stories at this year's Olympics:
• Grew up in Alaska
• Rowed at Harvard
• Moved to NYC after school
• Started working for a venture capital firm
• Took a beginner's cycling class in Central Park
• Started cycling at 5:00 am before work
• Started competing in local cycling tournaments
• Quit her job & moved to California to cycle full-time
• Added to the USA road cycling roster one month before the Olympic Games
And now, just seven years after taking a beginner's cycling class in New York City, Kristen Faulkner has won gold at the Olympics in Paris — the first American to win gold in the women's road race in 40 years.
