The Forever Canadian petition needed 293,976 signatures (10% of electors from the 2023 provincial general election) to be successful. The campaign ultimately gathered 438,568 valid signatures and had 404,293 verified signatures, easily surpassing its requirement.

Danielle Smith lowered the necessary signatures for Mitch Sylvestre from Stay Free Alberta to 177,732. His group got 286,593 signatures.

Under the rules given to Forever Canadian, Stay Free Alberta would not have qualified for a referendum question.

Yet with Smith’s friendship and compassion for Separatists, Elections Alberta has determined that Sylvester was successful.
