Burberry doesn’t realise he’s a clever boy finding a🦔friendly garden where the lovely couple adore their🦔visitors. They could👂 Burberrys noisy breathing whilst he was sleeping. They knew he needed help. This poor boys lungs are full of fluid & lungworm🙏we’ll make him better❤️
Let me categorically Debunk this utter rot. @sainsburys.
I am a poultry Breeder. The hens that lay white eggs (Amberline/White Star) DO NOT have a lower carbon footprint.
Yes they eat a bit less and produce roughly the same amount of eggs as the Brown egg layers (Bovan/Lowman/ISA Brown) but they live shorter lives, are prone to dying suddenly when startled, a flighty and nervous and because they live shorter productive lives (12 -18mnths) vs brown 18/24mnths (both commercial farmed), you have to incubate more which is increased (Electricity/gas costs) and their eggs are not the same quality.
I breed and keep 20+ different breeds, including: ISA Brown hens and White Stars. All my hens are 100% free range, Not a single barn kept bird, I have ISA browns that are 5yrs old and still laying beautiful Brown eggs, I have not seen a White star live beyond 3yrs and certainly none have laid eggs past 18-24mnths.
White stars Lay themselves to death. They are slender birds and because they dont eat a lot, it drains their personal vitality to keep up laying the eggs you want to sell because of the nonsensical lie that they are "More Carbon Neutral"
You want to know about eggs, come talk to someone like me, Don't rely on some hairbrained imagination of a buyer who's trying to squeeze the profit margin for a few extra pennies at our expense and to the poor hens detriment.
1. Women’s spaces are for women. It’s irrelevant how the women look.
2. Men don’t belong in women’s spaces. It’s irrelevant how the men look.
3. Most trans-identified men would give at least one ball to look like Sharron Davies.
The darling pesky fox cubs are out and about now, following mum as she teaches them, and they explore - learning what's good to eat, what's worth the energy, and what's not.
Yes, they do cause mayhem, squeezing themselves into the hedgehog feeders, stealing dishes, etc, but please be patient with them.
They're just babies, learning how to survive in an increasingly hard world.
And besides - thankfully they'll soon grow too big to get into the feeders.😁
I have several driveway alarms dotted around the hospital grounds, opens pens etc, that are all set to make a different sound, so that I can be woken and quickly locate a new self-admitting visitor during the night.
Some cock-a-doodle-do, some bark, some play a tune, some sound like an air-raid warning.
This poor little boy is Luca, and he's suffering from fluke, an internal parasite which is very painful.
Flukey hedgehogs try to run from the pain, so when he self admitted he couldn't bare to stay still in one pen, but continued racing round, setting off all the alarms.
So at 2am this morning I was woken to a madhouse cacophony of dogs barking, cocks crowing, while a brass band played along to an earthquake warning siren!🤪
I eventually found poor Luca in a feeder. He's very sick, but reasonably well nourished and hydrated so I could start treatment straight away this morning.
Right now, dear little Luca is now having his first pain-free sleep for the longest time.
Fluke is often contracted from contaminated drinking water, so please keep all water containers clean, and refresh the water daily using tap water only.
Although we're fast approaching the shortest night, where the hours of darkness are so few that hedgehogs with extra needs sometimes extend foraging time by getting up before full dark and staying up after sunrise, their behaviour is completely different to that of a sick hog.
A sick hog is feeling cold and is seeking the sun's warmth. So they will be out in the open.
A healthy hedgehog sticks to shade and cover, keeping to the edges and borders, and if forced to cross an open space will do so quickly, in a straight line, and at a low crouch (so as to cast the least shadow and make themselves a target).
Plus, this almost never happens in a garden where food is kindly provided.🥰
Always remove leftover food first thing in the morning, or it will attract flies, and replace the fresh food dish after the flies have gone in, at dusk.
Never leave food out during the day.
Happy Bank Holiday weekend!
Lovely weather, isn't it?🌞
Unless you're a nocturnal animal who has to sleep all through the hot day, and wake at night to find no water. No puddles.
No kind dishes.
Unseen.
Unthought of.
Just the tantalising smell of water from a pond you may drown in, or a drain you may get trapped in.
Or a stagnant, dirty old birdbath you may get fatal fluke from.
Hedgehogs need to drink a lot of water to stay healthy.
Please provide clean, fresh, safe, ground level water for our precious wildlife each evening.
Tap water is best.
Pop a dish or two out tonight.
Keep it clean.
Keep it full.
Keep it saving lives.❤️🩹
With a heatwave predicted over the next few days, the need for providing fresh water is even more critical for our precious wildlife. Please help if you can, providing fresh water in clean shallow heavy dishes will help to save so many lives. Thank you 🙏 #hedgehog#wildlife
