@Goldietheswag3@Whissia Yeah, outright favoritism is as much a problem as outright hatred of a faction when it comes to writing stories involving them.
@Goldietheswag3@Whissia Yeah, in general it would be better if the authors writing stories for 40k would put more thought into how they are portraying the Eldar, but as I said before, it is genuinely challenging to write characters that are supposed to be smarter than the author is.
@Goldietheswag3@Whissia Imperium's great strenght is that human lives have basically zero value to the imperial leadership, as manpower is one of the things the Imperium has ample abundance off. Some hive worlds send people to serve in the guard for example as means of managing overpopulation.
@Goldietheswag3@Whissia True enough. I am not trying to claim that eldar should be written as infallable, my criticism is generally just that GW tends to write the Eldar as just fools whose plans always fail as a rule, which in my view does them and the setting as a whole disservice.
@BlueBulletda@ArchonSam@wraithbon3r The halfborn aka the vatborn Dark Eldar make up the majority of the population in Commoragh. Trueborn are a priviledged minority by the virtue of being the offspring of powerful Dark Eldar, like those high up in kabals etc and are akin to status symbols to their parents.
@Goldietheswag3@Whissia Eldar arrogance definitely plays a part in how they behave and what they do. Their emotions also run far more intense than that of humans which is why they can fall prey to obsessive behaviors. The path system of the craftworlders partially exists to manage these intense emotions
@Goldietheswag3@Whissia Eldar acting foolish despite their lore stating that they are far more intelligent than humans is a bit of a result of GW's writers being as a rule, midwits, and it is generally very difficult for even smart people to write characters who are more intelligent than themselves.
@knightcore77@Lorgarwasright2 Powerful Dark Eldar sometimes have children the natural way, which are referred to Trueborn. These trueborn are basically trophies/status symbols for their parents as much as they are their progeny. They tend to be extremely arrogant and look down on the halfborn Dark Eldar.
@locomotivevoice@knightcore77@Lorgarwasright2 Halfborn are not clones. They are just speedgrown dark eldar. It is not outright stated in any codex where the actual embryos for them come from. The Haemonculi basically just plant these embryos in vats and accelerate their growth so they mature faster.
@LindonVoxCaster You understand that the image was made as a joke, aimed at people shitting on the exodites, right? I am well aware that most people on /tg/ responded very positively to the reveal.
