@Lunchiblz I need to go back and play builders because I bought it a year or so ago between playing Dragon Quests 5-6-7 but ended up getting swept away with the mainline games 😅. DQ1 is one of my favorites though to I liked what I did play, very good
@DarkLightsWrath I actually just beat this one and am on to 11 (already played for several hours) I think if you're using Melon DS you can make 1 screen larger and then use a Hotkey to switch which screen is larger. most of the game is bottom screen but combat is top so it helps.
@N0telu@its_mirrors Right. The physical shape of an object tends to be a bit counter-intuitive to how things should interact with it. using your stairs example, *we* only use stairs because of how our legs work, but to a physics object there's no indicator that it isn't just walls and platforms
@its_mirrors Ok but if you don't add a toilet enemy that just eats the plungers and takes no damage than unfortunately I will have to leave a 8/10 on the game on release :/
@dqrivalsart No I get what you're saying. Been doing a marathon of the original console versions of each mainline game, and when I got to 8 the complete change of the UI in terms of functionality was incredibly jarring. little worried that once I get to 9 I'll have forgot how to use the OG UI
Whenever I'm working on a level for my game and I get just about to finishing things up, sometimes this Gif brain blasts me and then I have to backpeddle and redo portions to make them a little more streamlined.
@its_mirrors This is one of my favorite things about nintendo games tbh, especially earlier ones. they have so many completly optional, often obtuse methods to find secrets and perform actions that they make the player ultimately think there is always something new to discover about the game.
the time-honored tradition of playing dragon quest instead of working on my game is killing me, started putting extra sticky notes on my monitor to block the view so I actually get stuff done 😅
@EndsFunnies glad to see on my front page someone else is also playing PS2 DQ8 *while* I'm also playing PS2 DQ8 :D. Think I made this joke first time around too
@yolwoocle_ This is very neat! I wonder if there isn't a little radius though to maintain a minimum amount of screen real estate per player. I couldn't imagine with a hectic game it could be possible for the players camera to "pinch" leaving not enough room to see the action
@spacebruce Fair enough, I figure it'd be easier the other way around however I also tend to do stuff awkwardly myself 😅 Hoping to see more progress on whatever this is for!
@spacebruce You're saying "embiggening" but it kind of looks the otherway around? looks like they're making the bigger sprite smaller by cutting out middle sprites while it "collapses" inward. Thought it might be easier that way
