Let in the light, keep out the deer & let nature do her work.. Actively trying to protect our nightingale & turtle dove populations in Suffolk - @ScrubUpBritain
When you are on holiday with @kfordbirder in the highlands of Scotland and stop the car to look at a Bullfinch, then look along the fence and find a Collared Flycatcher 😀
We had a fantastic surprise yesterday when a Nightjar 'churred' (their song) just before dawn. It soon graced one of our nets. This is the first Nightjar we have ever ringed in the Spring on the Salisbury Plain.
Wow! A Northern Parula @FI_Obs! A massive surprise when this stunner flicked over my shoulder and landed in front of me at Vaila's Trees. After being a bit mobile it thankfully settled down, showing well for everyone on the isle.
In Vinnytsia, Ukraine, a female stork was widowed when her mate died. She is incubating her eggs and is unable to feed herself.
Local residents have started feeding her.
Deep in a home county woodland this morning my friends and I came across a family of birds with 4 fresh and fluffy faces, anyone fancy guessing the species? (photos with the parents feeding to come later!)
We knew this would be a good breeding season for Barn Owls but.... The first brood we ringed this year was our largest ever, with an amazing EIGHT owlets!!!

Also I love how 1 bird waits 4 the other 2 arrive before going up onto the nest cup to roost. Listen how they greet each other everytime they arrive to roost the night. It's not like they just spent the whole day out together.... (I lowered the mic vol by 50% and its crazy loud)
We had a surprise visit to a #NewForest stream recently. This #Razorbill was recorded on a trail camera probably resting after some weather pushed it off course.
The Razorbill is a coastal seabird and would usually be found in marine or intertidal water.

One of the problems working on species recovery is when a landowner sends you a sighting of their first Turtle Dove in 3 years, my head explodes and i can't focus for the rest of the day. The best drug.
