@KKurzNHL A lot of it depends on how committed Carlson is to the Ducks and whether he'd be willing to sign after the contract is up. The salary cap problem is going to keep them from contention during this contract. If they're going to lose him anyway, why keep him around?

@AnthonyMingioni The more I've thought about it, the more not matching makes sense for them. Leo is out in 5 years, Anaheim would be strapped with the cap, they can barely afford to pay their upcoming contracts, and their defense is thin. They're not winning anything in 5 years, so why keep him?
