The rough hewn grave of perhaps one of the most influential artists to have painted in St Ives. Robert Borlase Smart, founder member of STISA, taught Peter Lanyon to paint. He stopped Downalong being flattened by bulldozers, St Ives may have looked like Torremelinos but for him.
