Boeier's Journey: Boeier, the Dutch Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle (Diergaarde Blijdorp / Rotterdam Zoo) was indeed just "taking a look" into East Matagorda Bay. Perhaps this was a resting spot. Since yesterday,
Boeier has left East Matagorda Bay and swam ~28 miles south along the coast and is now near the entrance to the Colorado River, close to Matagorda Beach. How far south will she go?
Boeier's Journey: It's confirmed - Boeier, the Dutch Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle (Diergaarde Blijdorp / Rotterdam Zoo) has moved into East Matagorda Bay. She is still near the entrance of the bay, and the next few days will let us know if

I can't help but think that the tropical system (Rafael) moving into the Gulf of Mexico may have influence her movement southwest. It will be interesting to see where she goes next as Rafael is now headed to her south (perhaps).
On Monday, the Gulf Center for Sea Turtle Research released "Boeier." This was an international conservation effort led by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Diergaarde Blijdorp / Rotterdam Zoo and assisted by the Houston Zoo, Padre Island National Seashore, and the Galveston
The red dot with the white outline is Boeier's current location. We will be updating Boeier's location until either the tag fails, battery dies, or Boeier knocks it off, which Kemp's Ridley's are known to do. Watch this space.
