My 2 cents having managed lab budgets at 3 institutions:

- Benefits and tuition vary greatly. More transparency needed on what this actually covers!

- We are ~$25k per trainee (not counting mice!)

- I add $3k for a new laptop. Not fair to ask trainees to buy work equipment.
