It seems like most things humans need to function are now considered radical. Rest is radical. Not wanting to get sick is radical. Wanting to work less hours and be able to afford a house is radical. Even stating you don’t want people to die is radical. This isn't sustainable.
A student asked me if I had any editorial experience before TBQ and the answer is no, I'd never even had my own work edited by another person. Prerequisites are for gatekeepers. Being an editor at a literary magazine is not a job you do, it's more of a crisis you start having!
I've really embraced the "No one is going to read it! Go crazy. Get nuts." philosophy this past month, and, it's like, I've rediscovered the joy of writing in the process 😂. Thanks for the wise words @TBQuarterly
There is no agreed upon set of books we think are cool, there is no lit discourse that's relevant, there is no bar to entry except a willingness to have your heart broken repeatedly
The gatekeeper urge to tell me u don't read poetry without telling me u don't read poetry
Knowledge of form and meter and history can be helpful! I know a lot about those things and don't use them! Some poets do, lots don't! It's easier to define what poetry isnt than what it is

Cette injustice doit cesser !

The median US rent is $1967. Which means the median US hourly pay which would be considered livable (1/3 of rent) should be $35.40
The current US median hourly pay is… $17.02
Society will never be “okay” until this is fixed. It’ll always feel like a bad economy because of this
