Coaches should continue to strive towards a smaller sided games format at training.
Where 4v4 is chosen over 8v8.
Where 5v5 is chosen over 10v10.
Where ball contact is maximised.
Where goals are plenty.
Where decisions are made under pressure.
Where every child is involved

We must continue to strive for smaller sided games
Where 8v8 becomes 4v4
Where 10v10 becomes 5v5
Where no child gets 2 touches a half
Where scoring is frequent
Where ball contact is up
Where they're challenged often
Where improvement occurs
Where enjoyment flourishes

If you don't give equal game time & opportunity to ALL players at u9, u10 or u11, you might not have a team for ANY players by u13, u14 or u15.
Think long term development over short term success.

Most of a soccer game (90%?) is a sequence of events of Dribbling, Passing, and First Touch. Then shooting when you get within scoring range.
So a week after Crossmaglen lost one of their best, my own parish is dealing with the same illness. Tony Fitzpatrick is the best of us, a beautiful, positive kid. He needs specialist treatment to save his life. If you can, it could save our wee hero 🙏🏼
