#psychmachina Although Ava is a robot she seems to have the same basic emotions a human is born with. When she is happy that she escaped she smiles. Nathan programmed in these basic emotions and facial expressions so she can relate to other humans.
#psychmachina he is now using rationalization by claiming that Nathan only gave Ava sexuality as a diversion test. "Did you program her to like me." He is asking these questions to avoid the fact that he likes Ava.
#Psychmachina Caleb is in denial that he likes Ava romantically because she is a robot and that wouldn't be socially acceptable. This defense mechanism makes the situation okay for him.
#Psychmachina Nathan has been acting as a social master for Caleb so far. Caleb would rather talk about how the machine works but he wants to fit in with Nathan so he agrees to have a beer with him. His whole stay so far has been dictated by what Nathan wants to do.
Jennifer doesn't care about messing up the Pleasantville universe because it benefits her. She thinks everyone she be more like her and she is the best. This is clear narcissistic personality disorder #pleasantec
Imagine having to pay extra to use twitter... this could directly effect any educational implications of social media like what we did in #Digitech296 https://t.co/KUurc8mZZq
The @FCC vote to repeal #NetNeutrality rules is an all-out assault on a free and open internet. Open internet access is essential to our economic competitiveness. This move is anti-consumer, anti-competitive, and flies in the face of the best interests of the people of our nation
Reflecting back on the course, my attitude towards using twitter as an educational tool has completely changed. I enjoyed participating via twitter and even "live tweeting" the class lecture. I think that helped me learn a lot more than I would have without Twitter. #DigiTech296
@KarenDuBusiness @kajalpatel11798 One of my food courses is requiring me to add the physical chemistry of a food to wikipedia. As someone who has never contributed to wikipedia before it is cool that I now get to be a "prosumer" of wikipedia #DigiTech296#Ilg
@omisha_jyothi@SurabhiD595 A lot of activism has moved from in person causes led by organizations (Collective action) to movements started online in smaller communities (Connective action). I wonder which one is more effective in the modern era. #DigiTech296#Ilg
@SurabhiD595@barrywellman@lrainie I agree this was a very important point! In many of my other classes professors claim that technology is actually taking away from in person relationships, but this class changed my thoughts on that. There is still a lot of digital dualism in the world. #DigiTech296#Ilg
@kajalpatel11798 Convenience ties into @claychristensen's idea of disruptive innovation. Social media gives a simpler way to interact with classmates and make the classroom feel small, especially in a large lecture. This emphasizes social media's disruption in the classroom #DigiTech296#Ilg
@SopuruEzeonu These online relationships can be even stronger than the ones we make in person. According to the hyperpersonal relationship theory, people feel safer opening up online than in person. This can lead to stronger, more intimate relationships #DigiTech296#Ilg
@colin_nies These tools that big businesses use also give them control over the consumers, another important aspect of McDonaldization in @george_ritzer's book. They use patterns of activity to control how they will market to the consumer, allowing for stronger influence. #DigiTech296#Ilg
Thank you @barrywellman and @lrainie for your involvement in our course. I particularly liked the part in networked when you talk about networked relationships on and offline. It helped me better understand the strength of my online relationships. #DigiTech296#Ilg
At the meso level digital tech has disrupted how industries run their businesses. We see this in @george_ritzer McDonaldization. Technology is a tool to make processes more efficient, predictable, controlled, and calculable for humanity. #DigiTech296#Ilg
@madianou's theory of polymedia gives insight into how social media can be disruptive for education. Multiple platforms can be used, such as twitter to study or facebook for a discussion. Knowing the best platform to use for each activity leads to more success #DigiTech296#Ilg
An example of fading privacy is businesses that use data mining, tracking, and vertical surveillance to understand patterns of their consumers to better market to them. Businesses are able to create weak ties with their consumers through specific advertising. #DigiTech296#Ilg
