What a start to @ncaasoccer it’s been for Sean Keane, who has already notched 3 goals and an assist in 4 games for Hofstra University, competing at the highest level of D1 college soccer in the United States!
The 6ft 5 Cork man is a central midfielder but can also play centre back, where he lined out on Tuesday night in a huge win over St John’s University, scoring again in a 2-1 victory.
Keane has built a reputation for being dominant in the air, with excellent technical ability and a strong range of passing.
He’s also a leader on the pitch, captaining a Hofstra side ranked in the top 20 nationally. Keane is also the nephew of Irish football legend Roy Keane.
Hofstra have a strong reputation for developing Irish players who’ve gone on to play professional football, and they’re currently undefeated this season under new head coach Stephen Roche, a Dublin native who previously played for UCD in the League of Ireland.
Keane graduates from college in New York this December and likely will be highly sought after by both Irish and American clubs come January.

Posting a clip to his TikTok account with his team sitting in 12th. It’s so tragic. When top players let their football do the talking they do it by winning silverware not by scoring one fairly irrelevant goal and then trying to go viral on social media.
By all means enjoy opening your presents…
your mid morning bucks fizz..
your selection box..
20 pigs in blankets..
too many sprouts..
too much pudding...
a turkey butty..
your mince pie and brandy butter…
But enjoy it by being disciplined! 😉
Merry Christmas everybody 🎅🏻
