Reform MSP Thomas Kerr has claimed he calls people making a new home in Scotland 'strangers' because he is working class. The facts tell a different story, Xander Elliards writes ✍️

Soccer would not exist without immigrants. Immigrants play and coach the game, work in the stadiums, fill the stands, and make celebrations like the World Cup possible. Six of the players on the US Men's National Team are immigrants.
We will not allow ICE or anyone else to sow fear in our communities — especially at this moment. As the world comes to our city, we will stand proudly with our immigrant neighbors and reject these attacks for what they are: an attempt to divide us.
Roz Foyer, STUC, now gives the welcome to delegates from the kindred organisations and guests. She starts by praising delegates as the true leaders of the trade union movement.
“It is you, the leaders in our communities, in our workplaces, on our picket lines, & in our schools, Colleges and universities” #EISAGM26
Yesterday, Reform’s entire MSP cohort opposed the introduction of a £25 ticket cap for away football fans.
In the Hamilton by-election only a year ago, their candidate regular proposed lifting the alcohol ban at games. That mask of populist insurgency already beginning to slip.
A recent study found that only one MSP from the 129 available came from a working-class occupational background.

"This is the weakest of decisions in the face of the strongest of opposition from viewers, politicians and STV’s own journalists," said Nick McGowan-Lowe, @NUJScotland national organiser.

I can’t stop watching this clip when it blesses my timeline.
A Hearts goal still felt very possible from that free-kick. The tension inside CP was unbearable. One block, one pass, and in an instant it all turns into pure, unfiltered joy.
That’s football.

"It's baffling to me, how...it is controversial or contentious or objectionable that someone suggests...do you know what maybe let's not play football against them.
Maybe instead of playing a match against them, maybe let's not play a match."
Our movement is growing.
The latest ONS data shows that trade union membership in Scotland is up by 10%.
Get angry. Get mobilised. Get involved. Join a union.
Roz Foyer: Scotland needs public sector investment not cuts disguised as reform. IPPR Scotland research has highlighted the likelihood that cutting public sector employment will damage public service provision. https://t.co/FAXSI8OZ2X
☀️ Too hot to work?
There’s currently no legal maximum workplace temperature in the UK — but employers still have a duty to keep workplaces at a reasonable and safe temperature.
When temperatures rise, bosses should be:
💧 Providing cold drinking water
🌀 Improving ventilation and airflow
🧢 Relaxing dress codes
⏸️ Allowing more breaks in cooler areas
🌤️ Adjusting workloads during the hottest parts of the day
Scotland’s public services are already stretched with a workforce 10% lower than 15 years ago.
Real reform means investing in decent public services.

Cuts are a political choice.
As the new Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Reform gets down to work, unions won't be silent nor shy when faced with cuts to jobs and services.

It is simply not the case that 250 people pay 60% of all the income tax in Scotland @SirTomHunter.
This is a false claim that should be corrected. Here’s why 🧵
