A busy and very enjoyable month
Presenting our work on reducing the risk of injury & head-head contacts in rugby league at the NFL Medical Conference in LDN & the SASMA conference in Stellenbosch.
Ending with a 4 day camp and great performance at Headingley.
Roll on November.
This week, 30 new @England_RL @LouCollDiSE players started their journey on the national performance pathway at a residential camp held over 3 days 🏴🏉
Flight delay giving the perfect opportunity to reflect on the last week at @SASMA_ZA
Will always be grateful for the opportunity to present our work and for my colleagues (mates).
Thank you @CarnegieSEHS@PreventBio
Great to see our very own Tom Briscoe making strides both on and off the field! 🎓💪🏉
His research into the physical characteristics of young female players is a game-changer for the future of women's rugby. Proud to support his journey at Leeds Beckett!
Does the body composition, strength, aerobic capacity, energy requirements and blood work of international women’s rugby league players change over a 1 year period?

As part of the next study in my PhD, I want to look at coach opinions around the girls game / player pathway.
If you are a youth female R.L. Coach please follow the link in my bio and complete the questionnaire.
Thanks in advance

Injury incidence and burden were similar between the men's and women's Super League.
Injury prevention strategies should focus on reducing the incidence of head & knee injuries with equal and specific focus given to men's & women's players.

Anthony Elanga was the fastest forward in the Premier League last season with a max speed of 36.91 km/h.
That was a 7.7% increase on his previous season’s best of 34.27 km/h.
How does he get faster?
He sprints at max speed repeatedly, with sufficient rest between reps.
Proud to have my first PhD study published in @PLOS
