Leandro recorded this update from Palo Alto, California. He stood in front of the Jackson Library, which is the exact spot where Marcos Galperin wrote large parts of the Mercado Libre business plan. 56% of LinkedIn voters chose to hear about AI and how it translates to key performance indicators. So, he focused on how AI is a main reason for their massive 49% year-over-year revenue growth.

In the commerce segment, they rolled out a new AI search engine in the first quarter. This technology allows people to find better products and enjoy the discovery journey. Because the search is better, the advertising business is booming. Ad revenues grew 73% in US dollars. The AI improves setup, measurement, and attribution, making advertiser dollars go further.

AI is also optimizing processes across their facilities and last-mile delivery. This tech helped contribute to shipping costs in Brazil reducing by 17% YoY. This massive productivity gain allows them to remove friction for buyers. The lower free shipping threshold in Brazil drove 38% GMV growth and over 50% growth in shipped items. Before the change, shipped items were only growing at 26%.

AI is the engine behind their lending decisions. Better underwriting means they can grow the credit portfolio faster in a healthy way. This AI advantage helped the credit card portfolio jump 104% to $6.6B, while the total credit portfolio grew 87% to nearly $15 B . They are also using AI in their acquiring business to onboard new merchants faster.

A huge hidden benefit is happening inside the company. Employees are automating routine tasks with AI so they can focus on value-added work. Leandro also answered questions about the macro environment and oil prices. He noted that while they are not immune to global events, the shift from offline to online shopping is an overwhelming force. This transition, aided by their new AI tools, is driving results.

Otros titulares de hoy:

“Las reservas brutas se acercan a USD 46.000M pero caen la netas”. Cuando fue la ultima vez que las brutas estuvieron en ese nivel?

“Sube la tensión en el Gobierno”. Hace meses que leo este tipos de títulos, después no pasa nada.

Creo que se entiende mi punto. 43 años siendo lector fiel.

PAGO DE TRANSPORTE CON QR

El uso de QRs para pagos de transporte incrementaron exponencialmente luego de la desregulación del sistema SUBE en 2024. Desde mayo 2025 a diciembre 2025, la cantidad de viajes que se pagan con esta modalidad pasaron de ser prácticamente nulos a superar los 20 millones de viajes por mes.
