While the private sector is writing the script to intentionally disrupt the European public energy systems, @SeanSwe93180936 (from @TUED_global) highlights the importance of a #publicpathway approach to counter this trend!

Great work everybody! I’ve been taken a back by the response to this initiative. It’s clear that unions in the global size are weighing in on the need for alternative.!
🎙️The press conference was at full capacity when 100+ Global South unions issued a hard-hitting statement at #COP29 in Azerbaijan.
🌿TUED spoke about the statement w/ @rho_darling, @ecoklas, @ErnestNadome2, @dabigdyul, @Leon_Ayo

⚡️The dramatic increase of energy prices over the last years underlined the urgengy to reform Europe’s energy market.

The recent Draghi report underlines that energy prices in the #EU are 4 times higher than in the #US, but proposes the same old recipe of austerity to tackle the current #energycrisis.
🌱 @TUED_global's bulletin 151 - centering a feminist agenda in the #publicpathway for a #justenergytransition 💪🏽👩🏿🤝👩🏾👩🏿🤝👩🏽Enery poverty disproportionately affects women & girls. IPPs have disrupted the ability to systematically address and reduce EP. Opposing IPPs is critical. #WLPPP

📸From the Asia-Pacific mtg last night:
Unions across the Asia-Pacific region are committed to a dramatic reduction of GHGs. The market-focused “privatise to decarbonise” approach to decarbonising is dangerously ineffective in AP & beyond
TUED is growing - as is the call for a #PublicPathway alt to a #JustTransition✊🏽
"The privatisation of our lives has been detrimental to girls’ & women’s rights. We must use this #JustTransition opening to fight back & reclaim the public services, including energy, that allow us to exercise our rights.”
- Smritee Lama @GEFONT Nepal
great class-based response to all of the "we need women to be at the forefront of legitimizing our corporate agenda" crowd. Great things will come from this leadership initiative!
📢Unions declare: “Feminist Public Pathway Now!”
A majority of 'gender inclusivity' discussions are stuck in a market-based approach to decarbonisation.
Unions are developing a #PublicPathway alternative as a feminist approach to a #JustTransition

[Podcast] Listen in to a conversation I had with @JonSward on a report from @brettonwoodspr on the implications of the World Banks Development Policy financing & the private led energy transition in India, Colombia and Rwanda. See report link in thread
TUED Radio Ep 6. This week, we delve into the complexities of energy justice & global financial policies with a focus Development Policy Finance via the World Bank & its role in shaping a private-led energy transition- @JonSward from the @brettonwoodspr

Decentralized public energy will certainly be necessary in a #PublicPathway. Those projects need to be part of coordinated plans in the #energytransition. Democratic control of energy must include planning for local priorities of marginalized communities, feminist & worker needs.
