@TronCarterNLU “conditions and setup on Thurs/Friday being survive, hang on and play defense..and then let them jockey for position for Sunday by offensive fire power on moving day. Just enjoy it brother.” - Neil (probably)
Another year where “one of the best fanbases in college basketball” is watching March Madness from home.
One of the worst returns on support and resources in the sport.
Thinking about how VCU and Xavier (when they were in the A10) mastered the “coaches on the rise” pipeline. They embraced being a launching pad for ambitious coaches.
Hard not to wonder what Dayton could become if we adopted that blueprint.
@__KP For sure. Seems like the challenge now is finding those versatile two-way guys in the portal instead of developing them over 3-4 years like when you played.
Two hours later and I cannot wrap my mind around that ending. The mere fact this Dayton team is a win away from dancing is some kind of narrative from where the vibes were a month ago.
The Dayton Flyers missed back to back NCAA Tournaments with the #22 overall NBA draft pick, a NBA starter, and the best 3 point shooter in CBB/2nd round NBA draft pick. Arguably a fireable offense at the time.
A quote from Dayton's AD Neil Sullivan attached.
Dayton basketball has not won a conference tournament since the invention of the iPhone and is 2 for 9 on NCAAT bids under Anthony Grant.
If these expectations have changed, let the fans know. If not, fans are going to be upset.
I have a group chat built around Dayton basketball that on gamedays is going off from the start of the day until the Flyers reach the final buzzer…..not a single text was sent today during the game…not a single one. Complete apathy for the program @DaytonMBB
Dayton vs ETSU - the Richard Amaefule Classic.
My freshman year I experienced the nature of what it means to be a Dayton basketball fan.
After starting off 5-0, Dayton got doubled up 68-34 by UC and then ETSU snapped our 40 game non-con home winning streak.
