Got to chat with an old work partner about our time in the fire service together. We lived through the best part and didn’t even realize it. God we did some dumb shit and had way to much fun, that will always be the best job I ever had.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
Some of us don’t talk about it.
Not because we don’t want to… but because we don’t know how.
We were taught to push through.
To carry it.
To handle it on our own.
And for a while, that works.
Until it doesn’t.
There are things people don’t see — the weight you carry, the battles you fight in your own head, the nights that feel longer than they should.
Just because someone looks okay doesn’t mean they are.
If you’re struggling — you’re not weak.
You’re human.
And you don’t have to do it alone.
Check on your people.
Have the hard conversations.
Say something, even if you don’t have the perfect words.
Because the strongest thing you can do…
is not pretend you’re fine when you’re not.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, please text or dial 988
@ComEd Lower our rates and quit forcing your solar crap and electric cars. All you care about is us being able bodied enough to pay our bills. Gonna be a race with Nipsco to see who is worse!
@GayDispatcher@Allstate I have Pekin. I got smoked head on in the wife’s car. Body shop sent pictures and we were paid in a week. She booped a truck and the body shop had the car for a week. Ins called and asked if we needed a rental that day. And they are priced reasonably. Can’t recommend more
@Rottluver208@Smith_WessonInc I couldn’t agree more. When people ask me I tell them exactly what you said. I have a favorite brand but I have all kinds of stuff that just fits and runs well. I wish this thought process was more common.
